| #5 Two points: 1) Eisenhower: As his Presidential papers are declassified, we are discovering President Eisenhower had a hidden talent - he spotted small problems and prevented them from becoming big ones. He didn't have to handle many crises because he the crises never arose in the first place. 2) Patton's sure-handedness stemmed from his knowledge of weapons and tactics. Whenever he stopped at an American position, he would check out the machinegun and antitank positions. It is easy to be decisive when you have a solid grasp of the details. On the other hand, he tended to ignore logistical matters, thereby ensuring that his troops would run out of gasoline in front of the enemy. Al |

| #1 Lots of war criminals cited in that article: LeMay, Sherman, Grant, Lincoln. They would have hung...should have hung. So much for the Lieber Code or Geneva Conventions. Guess it helps to be on the winning side. |
