Rep. Darrel Issa Calls It Quits
2018-01-10
I'm not sure how I feel about this guy; less than enthusiastic is my current take. Yours (Frank G, Abu Uluque) will probably differ!
[ZeroHedge] In an ironic twist, just moments after Trump requested a "tough primary" for California Senator Dianne Feinstein for leaking the Fusion GPS interview transcript, he is losing California Republican Rep, and the richest member of Congress, Darrell Issa, who announced moments ago that he is retiring and won't seek re-election.

Issa, an influential republican in the House, has been in Congress since 2001, and his most high-profile role was as House Oversight Committee chairman during former President Obama’s presidency, a position he used to hold many hearings on what he viewed as govt misdeeds. Issa, considered the richest member of Congress worth up to $768 million, and his wife ran the nation’s largest manufacturer of vehicle anti-theft devices before selling the co. in 2000.

Below is Roll Call's wealth of congress index, putting Issa's wealth in context.
I know ZH isn't the most sane website out there, but I guess one thing will never change - class warfare works.

#6  He has a business background that made him VERY rich (Viper car alarms). He would be a good financial cabinet appointee

#4  A somewhat more reliable source, although 10 News San Diego is the local ABC/MSM affiliate. He's on the way out, though.

I was disappointed when he voted against the tax bill. He said it would hurt his constituents but those are the very wealthy constituents who could deduct more than $10,000 in state and local taxes so that was certainly not in my best interests. I would have preferred that he talk about why California has such incredibly high income and property taxes.

My lasting impression is that he usually said the right things but never got much done. I hope we can get a real conservative to replace him but, yeah, Pelosi will spend a lot on this district.

#2  Someone is paying a small crowd to hold up anti-Issa signs on an intersection in Encinitas. They do it about once a week and its been going on for some time. Wonder if its slowly moving poll numbers.

#1  He was likely going to lose anyway. Hollywood and Donks (BIRM) had a target on him
