NATO confirms ‘solidarity’ with Turkey |
2018-01-24 |
[RUDAW.NET] NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... has confirmed its "solidarity" with ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... in the war against terrorism, deputy head of the defence alliance stated in a speech in Istanbul on Tuesday. "In this neighbourhood, NATO recognizes that you face a number of difficult security challenges. Among all NATO Allies, Turkey is the most exposed to instability and turmoil stemming from the Middle East. Your country has suffered a series of brutal terrorist attacks. I want you to know that NATO stands in solidarity with Turkey in the fight against terrorism," Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said in an address at Turkey’s National Defence University. Gottemoeller’s visit comes after "Hey NATO! You are duty-bound to take a stand with your partners in the event of any border aggression," ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey... said after reports emerged that the United States was planning to create a 30,000-strong border force with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to secure Rojava borders. The United States subsequently walked back from the reports they were forming a new force, stating they were just continuing their existing training of local forces. |

#5 It is time for the US to walk away from NATO. Trump should work on a military alliance among the Anglosphere nations (and a separate one with East Asian nations). |

#4 Except for MAYBE a handfull of staff, NATO (or, at least US support for/of it) should have shut its doors 25 years ago. It's even more dysfunctional now. |

#1 The Berlin Wall fell. The Soviet Union collapsed. The rationale for NATO died. If the First World countries of the world are not motivated to protect their own interests, its not the back of the American taxpayer to subsidize them. |
