The operational merging comes amid some of the most violent festivities ever witnessed between rebels and ISIS throughout the southwestern governorate. The ISIS group which the rebel coalition is pitting itself against in Daraa is technically an affiliate of the terrorist group that goes by the name Jaish Khalid Ibn al-Walid (Army of Khalid Ibn al-Walid). It operates out of Daraa’s Yarmouk Basin region ‐ being in control of several large towns and dozens of villages. Recently, the Free Syrian Army issued a surrender ultimatum to ISIS-linked fighters in Yarmouk, threatening a major offensive which it says it is almost ready to launch and which will apparently witnessed the total destruction of ISIS throughout Daraa. | |
