Ahrar Al-Sham’s top commander in northern Idlib has been assassinated |
2018-02-03 |
[ALMASDARNEWS] The top commander of Harakat Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... in the northern countryside of Idlib has been assassinated, tonight, after unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle. According to pro-opposition pages, Abu Za’id al-Askri of Harakat Ahrar al-Sham was assassinated earlier tonight while he was traveling with his cousin near the town of Ma’arat Masreen. The Ahrar al-Sham commander’s cousin was also killed tonight. Opposition activists have accused Syrian Arab Army (SAA) spies of carrying out the liquidation; however, no group has grabbed credit yet. |
