Mueller: Russians conducted 'information warfare' against US during election
2018-02-17
[CNBC] A federal grand jury has indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for alleged interference in the 2016 presidential elections, during which they boosted the candidacy of Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, special counsel Robert Mueller's office said Friday.

The indictment says that a Russian organization called the Internet Research Agency sought to wage "information warfare" against the United States by using fictitious American personas and social media platforms and other Internet-based media.

While that effort was launched in 2014, by early to mid-2016 the defendants were "supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump ... and disparaging Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton,"
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
the indictment charges.
I AM NOT A BOT... [BZDEEP!]... ТОЖЕ Я НЕ РУСКИЙ ШПИОН...
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said the defendants created hundreds of accounts using fake personas on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to advance their scheme.

If Mueller's Indictment Isn't a Nothingburger You Could Be Forgiven For Making That Mistake
A response to the above and this report from yesterday.
[RedState] Robert Mueller's team announced their first relevant indictment today. It involved thirteen Russian nationals and three Russian entities.
Read it
Point-by-point dissection. Well worth the read

#20  Starting to wonder what would be different if we didn't have an FBI.

#19  This should prevent the Russisns from cooperating with the Uranium One investigation vrry nicely.

#18  Still no word on who hacked the DNC email server. I guess all that sophisticated electronic monitoring has no chance against a disgruntled operative with a thumb drive.

#17  Truly, Anomalous Sources.

My apologies:

or his opponent as president in 2008.

should be

...his opponent in the Democratic primary....

As I wrote it, it unfairly impugns Mitt Romney, whose faults lie elsewhere.

#16  This is neither new nor exclusive to The Rooskies™. Remember this?: Obama admin. sent taxpayer money to campaign to oust Netanyahu

#15  Why didn't the FBI or CIA find this "interference"?

Did we really need a 'Special Consul' to ....

Oh, nevermind. We all know the answer to the second question.

#14  Over and over again we're finding that these incidents were preventable so if they're not being prevented then somebody needs to be held accountable.

But Abu Uluque, this particular event could only have been prevented by not electing Barack Obama or his opponent as president in 2008.

#13  Option C is that Mueller and company made up this stuff as a CYA after wasting so much time on the witch-hunt. We will see what happens with the 13 Russian nationals, I suspect they'll be back in Russia within a year (if they aren't there already).
Posted by: rjschwarz   2018-02-17 11:23

#12  I think either (a) the Russians do this every election and the FBI knows about it and used it as a plan B if the Trump witch-hunt came up empty or (b) the Russians were simply testing this go around for future meddling and that if one compared different actions with poll effects that sort of thing might become apparent. Also that their timing was bad in that this happened to be the election Hillary couldn't lose but managed to leading to investigations.

No. I did not double post this comment. I just thought it applies to both stories.

#10  Could be a convenient covor the upcoming IG report release.

#9  So does this mean Mueller will go after Comley, Lynch, Holder, and the rest - including himself? Because they pretty much did, and are doing, the same thing.
Russians would have been more effective if they had joined simply the top levels of the FBI and DOJ.

#8  Mueller's problem was how to support the narrative as the smoke disappated. All he needed was someone he could indict, and at this point I would not be suprised if he hasn't been in secret talks with some of the indictees to have them come forward with their own second hand stories about collusion.

#7  ...Read "Sword and Shield" and "The World Was Going Our Way" by Professor Christoper Andrew and Vasily Mitrokhin. Mr Mitrokhin was the man who watched over the old KGB archives and defected with literal tons of information from said archives. Bottom line - the Russians have been doing this for decades, and aren't about to stop now. If any of this is a surprise to Mr. Muller and his band of merry men, then the Republic is doomed.

#2  Ergo the tag line should be" well connected sadistic sociopath and a malevolent odious person "
Posted by: newc   2018-02-17 02:04

#1  I thought we had agreed that her permanent tag line should read "well connected sadistic sociopath"

But perhaps that is too kind for such a malevolent and odious person.
