Let Us Make Turn in Improvement of People's Standard of Living |
2018-03-25 |
![]() Juche's back! Hurrah! This represents the noble intention of our Party to make the 70th birthday of the DPRK the greatest event of significance by bringing about a decisive turn in the improvement of people's standard of living. We have solid material and technical foundations for consumer goods production, laid in Pyongyang and localities under the wise leadership of the Party, and excellent models and plenty of experience for the rapid development of the light industry. When the potentials of light industry are given full reign to effect a great upsurge in production, can cheers for the WPK and socialism resound far and wide in the sky of September. The U.S. imperialists and their vassal forces are now making desperate efforts to hold in check our vigorous advance and stamp out our idea and system. The great spirit of self-reliance displayed in the light industrial field and all the consumer goods produced with our resources and efforts will be a merciless telling blow to the hostile forces. All the officials and workers in the field of light industry should redouble their efforts to bring about a great turn in the improvement of people's standard of living through the on-going revolutionary general offensive in hearty response to the Party's holy warrior call. |

#18 Charger, "Full reign" in this case is correct. AS TW mentioned, "free Rein" mean to let the horse(s) run freely, while in this case "full reign" mean that fat boy still want to keep control of the economy. Under Kimmie, "full rein" will never happen. |

#17 #1, charger, good for you! I also learned grammar in the 1950s and love to see "free rein." |

#16 Well wen Edward Jones office opens up tomorrow morn I will realize a small bit of revenge on AT&T Bell South. I'm sure they will not GAF. but it will help sooth my soul. 20 yrs on-time paymnts, evidently not good enuf. |

#15 B, I've come to call those sorts of companies "SovietAmerica.com" and it's kinda ironic that this conversation has materialized in an article about juche propaganda. |

#14 TW: Experiencing unprecedented AT&T landline and computer outage here. Limited to cell. Noted with sympathy, Besoeker. We’ll cover until you are fully functional again. |

#13 Evidently residential svc no longer important to them. Most states have regulatory commissions as land lines are a monopoly. Had similar problems here, till the commission sent notice that they would loose their monopoly and infrastructure (with 'fair' compensation) to another bidder. |

#11 AT&T just built their fiber out here and they are pushing bundles hard. I saw a goodly mix of CWA guys doing the tech end and landscaper Ernesto types (presumably non-union, but I don't actually know that) doing the digging. |

#9 Phone companies are pushing cell because 1. Maintenance costs are inherently lower. 2, Wireless employees are non-union. |

#7 Even where success seems highly likely with some light industry or consumer goods endeavor, no one's going to jump in such a country as this, where you might be killed on a whim or sent to the camps. |

#6 Curious, that's the kind of error a native speaker makes. Usually the awkward English of North Korea doesn't speak like that. |

#4 Cannot talk to AT&T real person. Store sez they are pushing wireless bundles, "no longer responding promptly to landline outages." Evidently residential svc no longer important to them. Cannot get new provider till 3 Apr. Unbelievable. |

#3 TW: Experiencing unprecedented AT&T landline and computer outage here. Limited to cell. I am told a fix on Tues at earliest. |

#2 Truly, charger, and bless you for saying so. It’s to do with horses and letting them run, giving them free rein. |

#1 Just from the headline, I knew what this was. And it's "full rein", not "full reign" dammit! FULL... REIN!! Sorry, pet peeve. |
