Two senior Islamic State members arrested in operation, south of Mosul
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Security troops have arrested two senior Islamic State members in a security operation, south of Mosul, a source from Nineveh was quoted saying on Thursday.
Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “joint troops managed, in an operation, to arrest Wali (governor) of Mosul and Wali of Qayyarah in an operation carried out in al-Mahana village.”
The militants, according to the source, “were in a meeting in the village when they were arrested.”
Iraqi military denies news on killing five security personnel in Mosul
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi military has denied news on killing of five Iraqi soldiers in an ambush set up by Islamic State members in west of Mosul.
In a statement, the Security Media Center said, “what was circulated by media channels on killing of five security personnel in an ambush by Islamic State members, who were disguised in security forces uniform, is completely untrue.”
“Names of the soldiers, who were claimed to be killed, do not exist,” the statement said urging media channels to stick to accuracy and rely on official sources before publishing.
Previously today, news reports quoted sources as saying five Iraqi security personnel were killed as Islamic State militants set up a fake checkpoint on the road linking between Mosul and Rabt’a region, located in Tal Afar, west of Mosul.
Four Islamic State members arrested in operation, west of Mosul: Military intelligence
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Four Islamic State members were arrested in a security operation carried out in Mosul, the Iraqi military intelligence said on Thursday.
In a statement, the department said, “military intelligence personnel managed to arrest four terrorists in Mosul Old City, al-Shura and Hammam al-Alil regions, depending on accurate information.”
“One of them is wanted by the department,” it added.
