Countries not meeting NATO obligations will be 'dealt with': Trump
2018-05-18
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said on Thursday that NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
members that do not contribute fully to the group would be "dealt with," and singled out Germany as a country he said was not doing enough.

At a Cabinet meeting attended by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, Trump listed countries he said had paid the amount "they're supposed to be paying."

"We have some that don't and, well, they'll be dealt with," Trump said.

He added Germany "has not contributed what it should be contributing and it's a very big beneficiary."

"In particular Germany must demonstrate leadership in the alliance by addressing its longstanding shortfall in defense contributions," Trump said.

Despite often disagreeing with Trump in other areas, German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
agrees that Germany should contribute more and wants her country to boost military spending to meet the NATO target of 2 percent. She told senior military officers on Monday more spending is needed in light of changing security requirements in the world.

Stoltenberg praised Trump's work on shoring up NATO, whose continued purpose Trump questioned while campaigning in the 2016 election.

#4  Talk, talk, talk. Europeans are big on talking, not on doing. Merkel will agree to whatever and then not spend the money. Fuck them. Allies share the burden. Germany is not an ally. They are a freeloader.

#3  How long has Merkel been Chancellor?

According to Wikipedia, 2017 German defense spending is 1.2% of GDP, even less than in the previous 10 years.

Removing US troops from Germany and 40% tariffs on their exports to the US should work wonders on getting their attention.

#2  Pull all of our military out of the EU unless they pay for everything!

Or what? Strongly worded letter tweet?
You really want to send a signal? Have Congress appropriate the money to repatriate our buried in Normandy, Belgium and Italy and get moving. Nothing says leaving like bringing 'boys home'.
