| Algerian Terrorist Renounces Extremism in Response to His Family’s Appeal |

Salah, whose family surrendered on 26 April, has in his turn surrendered on Wednesday, following the appeal by his family, said the Algerian Ministry of National Defence in a communiqué. In line with the continuous efforts of the different units of our Armed Forces and following the appeal by his family, made up of ten members, who surrendered on 26 April 2018 in Jijel, terrorist F. Salah has surrendered today 16 May 2018 to the military authorities in Jijel (5th Military Region)," said the communiqué. Salah, alias Abu Oussama, who joined terrorist groups in 1998, was in possession of a Kalashnikov submachine gun, three stores loaded with ammunition," added the Ministry's communiqué What happened "reaffirms the determination of the National People's Army units to cleanse our country from the remnants of terrorist groups as well as the effectiveness of the approach adopted by the high command of the army to eradicate this phenomenon from our country," the ministry added. This policy, according to observers, is considered one aspect of the "reconciliation" that Algerians supported in a 2005 referendum, represented in revoking prison sentences issued against hundreds of murderous Moslems in return for surrendering themselves and their weapons.
