| Syrian Army counter-assault eliminates scores of ISIS terrorists in east Deir Ezzor |

(ISIS) forces launched a big assault in the southeastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Saturday night, resulting in a series of intense festivities that would last for several hours. ISIS began the attack by storming the Syrian Army’s positions at the towns of Hasarat, Jalaa, and Saiyal near the border-city of Albukamal. According to a military source in Damascus, ISIS was able to initially capture several points inside these towns, forcing the Syrian Army troops to retreat in order to avoid being overrun. In response to this big ISIS assault, the Syrian Army sent reinforcements from Albukamal to these three towns in a bid to recapture their lost points. The counter-assault would prove successful for the Syrian Army, as they were able to retake all of the points they lost, while also killing scores of Islamic State terrorists. The military source told al-Masdar that at least 20 Islamic State bad boyz were potted during the battle, while the Syrian Army lost a total of 5 soldiers. |
