2018-06-10 |
[Dhaka Tribune] Dr FM Siddiqui, one of the physicians who tended to BNP Chairperson Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ... on Saturday afternoon, has confirmed that the incident when she lost consciousness on June 5 was the result of a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) ‐ a kind of mild stroke. Fearing this to be the harbinger of a major episode, the doctor suggested that the BNP chairperson be immediately tested, diagnosed, and treated as per the instructions of the medical team. He also suggested that she be taken to a hospital ‐ preferably United Hospital ‐ for her checkups. Earlier in the day, civil surgeon Ehsanul Kabir and three specialists, including Dr FM Siddiqui, visited the old Dhaka Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road to check on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health at around 3pm. Shairul Kabir Khan, member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing, had earlier confirmed that doctors were scheduled to visit Khaleda Zia on Saturday afternoon. On Friday night, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that Khaleda Zia was not receiving proper treatment for her ailments. Rizvi said the BNP chairperson had been suffering from a high fever for three weeks, and she was unable to balance herself on her feet as her legs had been swollen for days. He had also said that they suspected her of having suffered a TIA on June 5, which caused her to lose consciousness. |
