No plan to establish safe zones for the Taliban: President Ghani |

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani![]() has reacted at the rumors suggesting that the government is mulling hand over of certain areas as safe zones to the Taliban ...Arabic for students... group. President Ghani said the government has no plan to hand over any part of the country to the Taliban group as safe zones. He informed regarding the government’s stance during a presser in Kabul which was organized to brief the media about the recent developments regarding peace and ceasefire. He is the proposed plan for the establishment of safe zones is not a governmental plan and there is consensus regarding such a plan. President Ghani further added that the government is one and no area of the country would be handed over to anyone. This comes as the leader of Hezb-e-Islami ![]() ... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the Worldbut who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil... had earlier emphasized that the safe zones might encourage Taliban to accept the offer for peace talks. Speaking during a presser in Kabul in March, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami pointed towards his recommendations for the safe zones for Taliban and said such zones should be created in a bid to help protect the Taliban group members and their families who are willing to join grinding of the peace processor. |
