![]() Backed by Saudi-led Coalition ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews... defenses around the strategic Nihm District of Sanaa. Intense festivities would breakout between the two parties and last for several hours on Thursday before the Houthi forces were able to push back the pro-government troops. According to the official media wing of the Houthi forces, their fighters managed to repel the Saudi-backed assault at several axes in the Nihm District, while also inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy troops. Furthermore, the Houthi forces claimed that they responded to this Saudi-backed operation by launching their own offensive at the Tal Rabah and Sawa’el-Jarjour fronts. Since the UAE-backed forces halted their offensive in the Hodeideh Governorate, the most intense festivities have taken place in the Nihm District of Sanaa. This strategic district in eastern Sanaa is considered the gateway for the pro-government forces to reach the Yemeni capital. |
