#5 The Baltic states are indefensible. No more than Finland is indefensible. The difference is that the Finns choose to have a credible armed force. Whereas the Balts don't have a single tank or interceptor among them. They are relying exclusively on the kindness of strangers. They will resist to the last dead American. |

#3 How is the question. I don't know if there were enough things we could bring pressure on the Russians with at that time to bring about a diplomatic solution. The Baltic states are easier. Put US troops on the ground. |
