Venezuela's president Nicolas Maduro survives assassination bid using drones packed with explosives during live TV speech |
2018-08-05 |
Hundreds of soldiers broke ranks and sprinted for cover as blasts rang out over the capital Caracas. Seven soldiers were hurt. The explosions cut short a televised speech by the president during the National Guard's 81 anniversary celebration. Mr Maduro - blamed for the impoverished country's crippling inflation and shortages of basic goods - was unharmed. Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez condemned it as an attempted attack on the President's life. He said: "At exactly 5:41 p.m. in the afternoon several explosions were heard. The investigation clearly reveals they came from drone-like devices that carried explosives." Related: Breitbart - Darth Bolton: ‘Wouldn't us! No US govt involvement’ in reported Venezuela attack |

#6 These are not the drones you are looking for... It's quite amazing how sharp shooters managed to shoot down two drones (quite a feat btw.) without a shot being heard. |

#5 A digitally stabilized gun on a UAV or quad-copter would be much more useful. The best might be just a metal-storm electric fire gun tube and a video sighting keyed into AI Facial recognition on a smartphone with gps. The level and compass built into the smartphone would be great. I would do a prone smartphone with a 45 degree mirror over the camera facing down a lens on the gun barrel. Use the other side camera with another mirror for general view. Have a USB dongle on the camera control the quadcopter and the electric fired disposable MetalStorm tube (No mechanical problems or weight with this solution). Once target is ID'ed software on the phone should be able to line up the quad-copter and autofire. The whole experience could be viewed by the controller using the FaceTime app on the I-Phone. #4 If I was a Secret Service agent, this is the sort of thing that would keep me up at night. With the right tech, an assassin could be sitting halfway around the globe and take out Trump, or anyone else. That said, this "attempt", if it was one, looks pretty half-assed. |
