[DAWN] A kite string claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl in Sharifabad area of Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... on Sunday, police said. According to police, Tayaba Afzal was travelling on a cycle of violence ![]() She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Relatives told the media that the ambulance, which carried the injured girl, remained stuck in a traffic jam reportedly due to an alleged illegal cattle pen on a road between Gharibabad and Liaquatabad area. They demanded action against the manufacturing of such deadly strings in Karachi, similar to the action in Lahore. #1 It might be mentioned that kite strings are often coated in ground glass fragments in a glue. The kites are then flown to cut the strings of competing kites. Its a Moslem sort of thing, you see. A hobby, amusement. A lot of people think its good fun. Moslem fun, of course. An acquired taste , perhaps. This little girl riding behind her dad on a motorcycle? Had the misfortune to encounter a stray kite string coated with pounded glass. No good outcome. Ambulance took its time and cattle blocked the road. And Allah just wasn't there. But then, it was pakistan and what can you really expect in pakistan? |
