Hasakah: YPG release official statement about recent clashes between gov’t, Kurdish forces |

[AlMasdar] The spokesperson for the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG), Nuri Mahmud, released an official statement on Friday that discussed the recent festivities between the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) and Asayish (Kurdish police). "On September 8th, an unfortunate clash broke out between the Asayish and the regime forces in the city of Qamishlo, leading to a number of dead and injured on both sides. Also, it created an atmosphere of tension and stress in the city of Qamishlo," Mahmud began. "As a General Command of the People’s Protection Units, we extend condolences to the families of the victims and express our deep sorrow over what happened. In that same time, we confirm that as YPG, we also have opened an investigation concerning incident," he continued. "The results of the investigation will be revealed as soon as it will be completed. We call both sides to calm down and take the general interest as a starting point in the search for solutions," the YPG spokesperson added. The festivities that took place on September 8th resulted in the death of at least 11 Syrian military personnel and 7 Kurdish fighters. |
