| Shots fired at Israeli troops in Palestinian city; army says no soldiers hurt |

| [IsraelTimes] IDF investigating identity of perpetrators of attack in southern West Bank city of Halhul Shots were fired Tuesday evening at a group of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, the military said. No troops were hurt in the incident in the Paleostinian city of Halhul in the southern West Bank, according to a statement by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. Details of the attack, including the identity of the assailants, were being investigated, the statement said. The attack came after a 17-year-old Paleostinian was apprehended earlier in the day by Border Policemen at Hebron’s Tomb of the Patriarchs after he pulled a knife on them. Police said the teen arrived at a security checkpoint at the entrance to the West Bank city’s holy site and was instructed to empty his pockets. Though he complied, a metal detector went off when he passed through it. When coppers told him to lift his shirt, he at first refused, then pulled out a large knife he had hidden on his person and brandished it at the officers. Policemen aimed their weapons at the suspect and ordered him to put down the weapon. He was eventually subdued without shots being fired, and was placed in durance vile I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! and taken for questioning. Police said they believed the suspect had intended to smuggle the knife into the site in order to carry out an attack. |
