Mortar missiles fired by IS for the second time, northeast of Diyala

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Three mortar missiles were fired against an Islamic State-free village, for the second time in one week, northeast of Diyala, a security source from the province said on Sunday.

“Three mortar missiles were fired from al-Waqf basin, where Islamic State members still exist, against Ziham village, north of Baquba,” the source told Baghdad Today website. “No casualties were reported.”

The residents, according to the source, “were panicked as the accident occurred for the second time in one week.”

On Tuesday, three missiles were reportedly fired against the same village, with no casualties reported.

Islamic State leader killed, two others arrested, northeast of Diyala

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State member was killed, while two others were arrested, northeast of Diyala, a security source from the province said on Sunday.

Speaking to Mawazin News, the source said “security troops managed to kill an Islamic State member inside a rest house during an operation carried out in Neft Khana region, northeast of Diyala.”

Troops, according to the source, “managed also to arrest two militants in Hamrin region.”

IS bomb maker passes away while manufacturing explosives in Diyala

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – An Islamic State bomb maker lost his life Monday while trying to manufacture explosive charges in Diyala province, a security source was quoted as saying.

“The IS bomb expert, codenamed as Abu Moaaz, was one of the most dangerous terrorists and he was wanted on several terror charges,” the source told Baghdad Today website.

He lost his life while trying to manufacture explosive charges in al-Waqf basin, 25 km northeast of Baqubah.

Abu Moaaz was implicated in making bombs, which left several policemen and civilians dead over the past months.
