| Iran starts domestic fighter jet production as US sanctions hit |

| [ALMASDARNEWS] Iran’s Defence Minister inaugurated the production of domestically designed fighter jets in Tehran on Saturday, a day after the US announced the reinstatement of sanctions on the country. "Soon the necessary number of this aircraft will be produced. And it will be put at the service of the Air Force and the Army of the Islamic Theocratic Republicof Iran," Defence Minister Amir Hatami said at a ceremony to launch the Kowsar fighter jet’s production, which was broadcast on television. All of the US sanctions, lifted under the 2015 Iran nuclear accord (also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA), are set to come back into effect on Monday. Washington has been gradually reinstating sanctions against Iran after it pulled out of the nuclear deal in May. |
