Ocasio-Cortez has no money for D.C. apt, blames 'class barrier'
2018-11-10
[Wash Times] Newly elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ said her struggle with moving to Washington D.C. is indicative of a class barrier to political offices.

"There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn’t even designed (nor prepared) for working-class people to lead," she tweeted with a screenshot of a recent interview.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez told The New York Times on Wednesday that going until January without a paycheck will make it hard to find an apartment in Washington, D.C.

"We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve been just kind of squirreling away and then hoping that gets me to January," she told The Times.

In her tweet, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said she’s, "working it out."

The Democratic darling, a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, rode a wave of progressive enthusiasm that upset longtime New York Rep. Joe Crowley in the June primary, followed by her 64-point win over Republican Anthony Pappas on Tuesday.

#20  She could enlist in the guard. With her degree and prominence she would be admitted as an officer. Then she could stay at the BOQ at Ft Myers for cheap. The oath for Congress critters is the same as for service members.

It is as if she is too dumb to solve her problems.

#19  One would hope a Congress member could manage their own affairs if we are to entrust them with the duty of managing the affairs of the country.

#18  Surprised. I thought selling crack would have cash funded her basic needs.

#16  She could get a job as the resident expert on CNN.

If it is good enough for Matthew Whitaker... (Scroll down.)

#15  Class barrier my ass. How does a waitress manage when she relocates to D.C.? Oh wait...

#14  Or maybe there is some service she could perform for Bill Clinton.

#13  What Frank said. I just looked it up. $174,000 per year = $14,500 per month. She's not working class anymore. She could afford a real nice apartment in DC and have plenty of extra spending money left for those fashionable pant suits she likes. If they don't start paying her until January she could always get one of those pay day loans. She's a big girl now. She has options.

#11  How did she afford the rent while she was campaigning? Do more of that.

#10  Socialists are supposed to run out of money AFTER they take a job, not before.

#9  No, no! Good point, E.C.!

She could get a job as the resident expert on CNN. Or MSNBC!

#8  She could also get a job until January. Well, maybe not...

#7  I recall that in the early days of the country, congressmen leased rooms and even shared beds.
I'm certain a young lass with her 'talents' could hook up easily with a congress pal willing to share 'expenses'

#6  Reps get $174K/year. Go down the street and sell yourself if you have to, kinda like the Venezuelan wymyns who have to become whores in Columbia to support their families in that Socialist Paradise

#5  Whine, whine, whine.

An allegory for her Socialism. Once you get there, you find out there's no Magic Money Tree. Just remember the university she graduated from. They teach voodoo economics.

Now go put up a GoFundMe account, and see if people are willing to directly put you long term on their dependent account or was that election money just for short term entertainment.

#3  Most of these Congresscritters figure out the game fairly quickly and are multi-millionaires before they know it.

Otherwise, try the nearest YWCA OR find a place you can afford amongst the people.

#2  Such a LIE.

She was wearing a $3.500.00 pant suit at one of her campaign stops. If her credit is so bad that she can't get a short term loan from any DC bank against a firm job in the U.S. Congresses House of Representatives then she is fit to be the perfect spend thrift, budget busting, irresponsible, Demoncrat for sure.

Expect to hear a lot more of these sound bite lies from this corrupt leftist American bashing globalist caliphate promoting Demoncrat.

#1  The National Park Service has a very nice campground in Greenbelt MD about 10 miles from the heart of DC. IIRC, it costs about $22 a night. It is at the intersection of 2 major interstates, and a short downhill walk from a Metro station. She can stay at least 2 weeks there. No hookups but the firewood was free.
