| Syrian Army catches Islamist rebels before ambush in northern Hama |

| [ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was on high alert in northern Hama this morning after the Salafist tough guys in northern Hama attempted to sneak up and ambush their positions. Led by Jaish al-Izza, the Salafist tough guys were spotted last night making their way towards the Syrian Arab Army’s post outside the small town of al-Massasnah in northern Hama. According to a military source in the government stronghold of Mhardeh, the Syrian Arab Army was able to foil this attempted ambush before the Salafist tough guys could replicate their attack from the night before. The source said that the Syrian military killed a number of Salafist tough guys during the brief firefight, forcing them to ultimately retreat back towards their stronghold of al-Latamneh near the Idlib provincial border. Jaish al-Izza launched a successful ambush on Tuesday evening that resulted in the death of at least nine Syrian Arab Army soldiers; another 20 were reportedly maimed. The Syrian military has vowed to avenge their losses by launching a new offensive against the Salafist tough guys; however, no date was given for this operation. |
