Turkish-backed rebels surrender last positions in southwest Idlib
2019-01-10
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels have surrendered their last positions in the southwestern countryside of the Idlib Governorate on Wednesday, local opposition activists claimed via social media.

According to a statement released by Harakat Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
, they have agreed to hand over all of their territories to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
in the Shashabo Mountain and al-Ghaab Plain.

With Ahrar al-Sham’s surrender of southwest Idlib, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham now controls all of the area near the Syrian Arab Army’s front-lines in the al-Ghaab Plain.

Despite Ahrar al-Sham’s surrender, the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels still control several towns in the neighboring Hama Governorate.

The Ottoman Turkish-backed Jaish al-Izza faction is currently in control of several towns in northern Hama, including al-Latamnah and Kafr Zita.
