Wrongly-convicted man ‘scammed’ out of $1M after release |
2019-02-11 |
[NYPOST] Jeffrey Deskovic spent 16 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of raping and strangling a Peekskill high school classmate in 1990. Now he says he’s been wronged again. The Bronx law student, now 45, is suing two TV producers for the return of more than $1 million he thought he was investing to create programs dedicated to helping innocent people behind bars. But producer Terry Murphy, who has worked on projects for Oprah and the Jerry Springer Show, and Paul Viollis, a security expert and podcast host, used the funds "for living expenses and personal luxuries," court papers filed last week in Manhattan Supreme Court say. |

#4 gorb, just think for a sec: suppose you where a highschooler railroaded for a horrible crime you are innocent of (you know what they do in jail to rapists-murderers?) - would you give a f*ck about other people? |

#1 Being convicted and incarcerated for a crime you didn't commit is the misfortune of being caught up in legal system malpractice. Believing that handing money to "TV producers" is an investment is stupidity. "When asked how he felt about swindling unsuspecting marks, Riverboat Slim casually replied, 'Suckers aren't supposed to have money...'" |
