At least 23 dead in Alabama tornadoes, while winter storm blasts the Northeast |
2019-03-04 |
[CNBC] Rescuers sifted through rubble looking for more dead and wounded after two back-to-back tornadoes touched down in Alabama, killing at least 23 people, authorities said. The storms inflicted their worst damage on Lee County, Alabama Sunday, an area that includes the state's largest city of Auburn, destroying numerous homes and businesses. More than 50 people were reported injured and the death toll is expected to rise. Meanwhile, about 10 inches of snow was expected to fall in the New York City area by Monday morning with the arrival of another arctic blast, prompting all schools in the city to be closed and New Jersey to declare a state of emergency. |

#8 To bad Raj. When we moved from Worcester to NH last year I didn't move the snow blower...we hire a plow guy. Retirement is great. 8^) |

#5 Just spent three hours out in that crap - they were calling for 4" to 8" and we got 16" instead. A fairly big branch landed on the sidewalk in front of my house, so out came the circular saw. A sawzall would've been better, but mine shit the bed last year. Small bits of tree branch got caught in my snowblower's auger, so that was fun to deal with. |

#3 IN 2017 there were 36 fatalities from Tornados on a full year basis. In 2018 there were only 10 all year. |

#1 Auburn is not the largest city. Auburn University is the largest university in Alabama. |
