Two Abu Sayyaf militants killed in Sulu clash |

Military spokesman Divino Rey Pabayo said that troops clashed with five Abu Sayyaf rebels in a ten-minute firefight. The group was believed to be led by sub-leader Angah Ajid, whose body was left along with that of the unidentified man at the scene. Ajid, who had been listed as a high-value target, was involved in a kidnapping in Sipadan on April 23, 2000. On Monday, March 18, a clash in Banguingui town in Sulu resulted in one killed and one injured. Troops clashed with the rebels in sitio Mono-Mono in Simusa Island in a three-minute gun battle that killed Hamza Hamad, of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte. Alvin Mohammad of Simusa Island was captured in the same encounter. |
