[Libya Observer] Several members of the House of Representatives (HoR) announced in Tripoli

on Monday that they will hold next Thursday a session in Rexos Conference Hall as per the Skhirat agreement.

"We call on the rest of HoR members to join us in the Thursday session." Hamouda Sayala said reading a final statement issued by the members.

The members agreed on the agenda of the Thursday session, including electing a new Speaker and two deputies then discussing items 16, 17, and 18 of the Libyan Political Agreement, adding that they will be ending the transitional phase.

HoR members announced Sunday that they would hold a consultation session in the presence of 41 members with the oldest member chairing the session in order to elect a Speaker and issue condemnation of the war on Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. 49 HoR members issued a statement on the first days of Tripoli offensive condemning the escalation, rejecting military coup and supporting the civil state.

In the meantime, 31 HoR members issued a statement earlier this month backing up Haftar's military operation in Tripoli saying it is a holy war on terrorism.
