U.S. Commander: Al Qaeda Operating ‘Across' Afghanistan
2019-05-28
[Free Beacon] Al Qaeda is operating "across" Afghanistan in several regions, according to Gen. Austin Scott Miller, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

"We have seen al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Yes, in different parts of Afghanistan," Miller told TOLONews. "In different parts of Afghanistan, we can find them, so it's not one particular region, it's across the country."

The Long War Journal, a project of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, has tracked al Qaeda's presence in Afghanistan for more than a decade, creating maps that show the terrorist group's operations and movement in the country. Al Qaeda and its regional branch, al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, are present in 13 Afghan provinces, according to one of the maps.

"The data clearly shows that al Qaeda and allied terrorist groups have been operating on Afghan soil for the past two decades with the approval of the Taliban," the Journal reported. "These terrorist organizations often operate in areas controlled by the Taliban‐and the jihadists killed in coalition or Afghan raids often die alongside members of the Afghan Taliban."

#16  From On Bullshit by Harry G. Frankfurt (philosophy professor emeritus from Princeton) "It's impossible to be inadvertently insincere."

#14  There is no question we gave Stingers and such to the guys fighting the Russians in Afghanistan, but to say we created Al Qaeda is more than disingenuous.

#13  We're the ones who got Al-Qaeda started in Afghanistan, remember? --Posted by: Herb McCoy
Your memory is... intriguing ...in how it functions. What color is the sky on the planet you come from?

#12  The royal me again. McSsssschtain's friendsssssch you are speaking of. I didn't vote for Maverick or hissssch friendsssssch. Given the chance I'd go back and not vote for Boosh either. So leave me out of it.

#11  Well that's not a big deal. We're the ones who got Al-Qaeda started in Afghanistan, remember? To fight the Soviets? And then we just dumped them and ran off afterwards?

Hell, we allied with Al-Qaeda in Syria, giving them arms and training.

#10  When orchestrated well and executed efficiently, with lawyers and the underworld and local law enforcement lining their own pockets along the way, it can be done.

The start to such an operation will have to be the hardest part, will need the most resolve and will entail a lot of self-doubt, but eventually it would turn into a well oiled machine fed by corpses of missing persons, and churning out billions in illegal organ sales (best way to use a body). Proceeds from this could finance its own expansion, bribing of judiciary if actors were caught out, silencing of media and 'righteous' handbasket weavers.

I actually wrote a paper on the ways to remove islam altogether from communities outward, forcing the urban ones to convert, driving the have-not muslims into self destruction and wasting the remnant systematically.

I was branded a psychopath by my peers.☻

#9  Tolo News. 7/24 operation all over Afghanistan. Headquarters in Dubai. Owned by the Moby group. Operated since 2010. They keep a close eye on government there. Like here I guess if things suit them no problems. This commanders broadcast was deliberate to all Afghani. Him telling Trump to keep feet on the ground I guess.

#8  It's hilarious that lefties in America worry over vaccinations and recycling when the big question is - will the human race move forward or regress to the 7th century?

#7  I'd add: Doing what is necessary and expedient is not barbarous. It's practical.

#6  Charger, they already did. The real question is, will the non-barbarous part of the human race accept what must be done, or no.

#5  There is really only one way to settle the Muslim issue, but it is a way from which any normal, decent person would recoil.

The question is, will the Muslims eventually make it a matter of abandoning decency for the sake of survival?

#2  Not the only issue, but it is very difficult to deal with a counterinsurgency when border sanctuaries such as Pakistan are off limits.

#1  If the object was for it to drag on forever, we could have just sent the DEA.
