Russia has pulled several hundred advisors from Venezuela |
2019-06-03 |
[WSJ] MOSCOW‐Russia has withdrawn key defense advisers from Venezuela, an embarrassment for President Nicolás Maduro. These are contract employees, not official Russian government or military personnel. However, the withdrawal of several hundred personnel is significant. Maybe Russia thinks Maduro is now secure or maybe they think it is cheaper to protect Maduro with Cuban or maybe they think he is a lost cause or maybe some combination. |
