New York state lawmakers introduce bill to decriminalize hooking
2019-06-12
[NBCNEWS] One state politician said hookers prostitutes sex workers
...the oldest profession was legal (though not always unregulated) for thousands and perhaps even millions of years. That never has made it something most people want their daughters doing...
are "having to face stigma, discrimination and abuse in trying to advocate for their rights to be treated with dignity."

#8  The more and more they do things like this with prostitution and with drugs, you can see where it ties in with abortion and the devalue of human life. You are just writing people off as not worth saving, hey, do your drugs legally now, it's too much bother to try and get you off them and live a decent productive life. Oh, kids are too much work, it's too inconvienent, I'll just have this baby dismembered. Sure you got to sell your body for sex, but your not worth the effort to find something more uplifting to do to feed yourself and your kids.

How far we have fallen from even the attempt at grace.

#7  The difference between a NY legislator and a hooker?

The hooker has standards?

#6  in many cities prostitution now thrives with on line marketing and airbnb transaction and kiosk and internet banking

the actual marketing by streetwalking has been decreasing for years

I doubt whether much of the income is reported to the IRS however.

#4  You don't pay a hooker for sex. You pay her to go away afterwards.

#3  Good luck with fighting the Matriarchy desperate to maintain their century old monopoly on 'legal sex'. It was given because we had no social security or medicare. Someone had to take care of the elderly in their old age and it was to be the family. Thus, divorce was something rare and expensive resulting in financial rewards to cover that cost. Strangely enough the distaff side were the ones uprooting that foundation by championing social security and medicare. Then they throw in the 'pill' and 'free' love. Then they were big about decriminalizing gay relations resulting in Lawrence vs Texas and 'consenting adults'. The difference between 'free love' and the oldest profession is commerce. Ask any male who's been in a divorce, you pay one way or you pay another, but you pay. Thus the position, I don't pay her for sex, I pay her to leave.

#2  Just started reading James Ellroy's This Storm. Cops love hookers, because they can be co opted in so many ways. Good luck taking that arrow out of their quiver.

#1  Generally a good idea, but after reading those advocating for it in the article, I'm not so sure!

FYI: In the UK selling sex is legal, running a brothel (2+ sex workers) is not, local councils seem to turn a blind eye to "massage" places unless they do something obvious, which gets them in the local newspapers.
