- The 33-year-old Shanghai business consultant wanted to dismiss public defenders and represent herself
- And a U.S. District Judge found her to be competent and granted her request
- That's despite the fact she struggles with legal concepts and spoken English
- Zhang faces up to six years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted
- In March she is said to have told a receptionist that she was at the resort for a Chinese-American event in the evening but no such event was scheduled
- She was further questioned by agents who say they found four cellphones, a laptop, an external hard drive and a thumb drive containing computer malware
