Oberlin College pleads poverty to jury deciding on punitive damages
2019-06-13
Yesterday saw the president (salary: over half a million dollars) of Oberlin College (with an endowment of $887.4 million) plead poverty to a jury in Lorrain County, Ohio (median household income: $54,932), urging them not add punitive damages of up to $22 million to the $11 million already awarded to Gibson’s Bakery.

#6  Since you are going to appeal the 11 million award, why not make it an additional 22 million? You can obviously afford the lawyers.

#5  Can't they mortgage the college property itself ?

Mortgage? They should sign the deed over to the bakers.

#4  As I previously opined recently, this has the potential to be a watershed moment for outrageous PC professors and campus cultures. Endowments are the holy grail of administrations and a huge award here would serve as a powerful cautionary proof that over the top SJW and PC behavior could cost big bucks. Facing that risk, tenured status would be meaningless. Praying for a huge award to the plaintiffs.

#2  Fuck them. They had no pity on the bakers and were more than happy to try to impoverish them.

You reap what you sow motherfuckers.
