A Sad Day for Bourbon |
2019-07-04 |
Versailles, Kentucky‐A massive fire erupted at a Jim Beam Warehouse in Versailles Kentucky on Wednesday. Firefighters in Kentucky are trying to extinguish a burning Jim Beam warehouse that is filled with about 45,000 barrels of bourbon. Oh NOOOs!! Woodford County Emergency Management Director Drew Chandler tells CBS affiliate WLKY-TV that two barrel warehouses caught fire late Tuesday night. Crews were able to put one out, but the other kept burning for hours. Chandler says it may have been caused by lightning. Lightning. Why does it hate us? A nearby road has been shut down as crews fight the blaze. Chandler estimates firefighters will be working at the scene late into Wednesday night. CBS affiliate WLKY-TV featured photos of the massive blaze on its Twitter page. RIP Jim Beam. |

#3 Samantha Ruddy @samlymatters 21h21 hours ago Jim Beam is now seeping into the Kentucky River as a result of the bourbon warehouse fire which means that if you go fishing right now there’s a good chance you’ll catch a whiskey-drunk trout in a tank top yelling at his wife that he’ll come home when he damn well pleases. |

#2 And just last year the Barton 1792 bourbon distillery had a wall collapse, taking down 9000 barrels. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, but if it happens again it's war. |
