Stripped of the emotive language, nowadays it becomes a simple issue of post-production technology skills — or in simple language, PhotoShop the heck out of your image, as the pros do. After cropping and rotating the original image to get to the essence of it, even the basic photo editor that comes with a smartphone allows adjusting colour balance and saturation for the image, while a slightly more sophisticated app enables doing the same for individual faces, so that a mixture of skin tones can be worked with. Mr, Wife — who has got serious about photography since retiring — says that the key when he takes photos is good lighting, which provides the necessary contrast and dynamic range between subject and background, regardless of skin tone. Some of his best photos are of black musicians against against a dark background. There are tutorials all over the internet for this stuff. |

| #4 This lesson has been learned many times. You go into these areas expecting to have these problems. You don't prosecute. You most likely don't have armed staff. This is why most businesses don't locate in these areas. Locals have to drive out of their area to find stores. I recall one of those $100 dollar shoe stores had a huge theft problem in their mall. Still did a tremendous business. |
