The terrorist element was killed by security forces before arriving to the checkpoint, yet his belt detonated, the statement added.

Thursday's bombing comes a day after gunnies beheaded four civilians in the same area, according to the sources, after they allegedly collaborated with the Egyptian military.
In online statements, the Islamic State group grabbed credit for the attack and the beheadings.
