General officer commanding of Army's 15 Corps Lt General KJS Dhillon's statement came after searches in the past few days by security forces led to the recovery of a Pakistan-made mine and a huge cache of arms from along the Amarnath Yatra route. The Corps commander said Pakistan and its army were desperate to disrupt peace in Kashmir Valley.

"Last three to four days, we were getting specific and confirmed intelligence inputs that terrorists led by Pakistan and Pakistan Army are trying to target the Shri Amarnathji yatra which is going on," Dhillon told a joint press conference with Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbagh Singh here.

What was found stashed in the cave : IEDs and related equipment, an AP mine with a proud 'Pakistani Ordnance' etched on it, serials indicating the manufacture is recent. An M-24 rifle with Leupold scope, several rounds of ammo. Additionally, a makeshift hide had been set up on an elevated position overlooking a pilgrim route. There were indentations in the rock skirting along the route itself in places, where it appeared dirt and rock had been dug out, so as to make space for big bangs later. If a thorough inspection of the route had been skipped, unsuspecting crowds of people would have been blown up and the stragglers picked off before the plastic and stamped steel wielding security forces could react.
