[Libya Observer] Mitiga Airport authority confirmed Wednesday that a Libyan Airlines flight has survived a missile attack on the airport. The plane was coming from Ghat airport, according to the airport's management on Facebook. Air traffic was suspended immediately at the airport before being resumed hours later. The Special Deterrent Force (SDF) responsible for securing the airport had indicated on numerous occasions that Haftar's militias are the ones responsible for the frequent targeting of Mitiga International Airport. |

#3 I believe civilian airframes are also used by various countries in intel gathering and maritime patrol roles, which can only add to the confusement. |

#2 No (reliable) way to know if this actually happened, but any faction that shoots at airliners is filth. In the heat of battle, it's not always easy to distinguish between civilian airliners and military transports. That's presumably why Malaysian and Iranian passenger jets were shot down by Russian-backed Ukrainian rebels and our Navy guys respectively. |
