Acting BOP Director Hugh Hurwitz, who had been at the helm of the country’s prison system since last year, has been reassigned, US Attorney General William Barr said.

Barr did not say where Hurwitz will now be working but said the agency’s former director, Kathleen Hawk Sawyer, will succeed him at the helm. Sawyer served as the BOP’s director from 1992 to 2003, the AG said in a statement.

Barr has already launched a federal probe into Epstein’s death, which was ruled a suicide by hanging by the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office last week.
