"Come back....bring money" Sudan’s new minister for religious affairs called on Jews who previously resided in the African country to return following the ouster of long-time leader Omar al-Bashir ...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to ArabizeDarfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it... "Sudan is pluralistic in its thought, pluralistic in its culture, in its ideologies and Islamic religious sects, and even religions. There is Islam, Christianity, and a minority that follow the Jewish faith," Nasr-Eddin Mofarah told Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya in an interview on Friday. |

This is what the new foreign minister has to say about that whole Jewish thing: Sudan’s new FM open to relations with Israel, if Palestinian conflict resolved [IsraelTimes] Asma Abdullah, first woman in her country’s history to be top diplomat, says ‘now is not the time,’ but adds that most Arab states maintain some ties with Jewish state. In other words, while one hand wants the Jews to return, with their investments, cleverness, and charities (nailed it, Frank G), the other hand thinks Jews are decidedly icky.
