| #10 The problem is the left no longer knows why they are angry at things they just want the world to burn. There was a time when blackface meant mocking people of color. When that happens it should be denounced as racist but there is no evidence that's what was going on. Just putting on dark make-up is not necessarily racist but that doesn't matter anymore. |

As the Jordan Peterson affair shows, Canada now compels speech. There won't be a "teaching moment"; there will be government compulsion. This reality is what caused Peterson to step forth and stop being an obscure Canadian academic and be a champion for a simple but absolutely fundamental principle of democracy: except for oaths in extremely rare and tightly circumscribed formal situations, the state cannot compel any form of expression. |
