'Lucky' Buddhist statue topples over and crushes religious leader as he unveils it in Thailand
2019-11-06
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Village chief Saman Chanthayothi, 52, was the guest of honour at the unveiling

  • As he tugged away the cloth, the Buddha statue cracked and fell on his head

  • The statue had been intended to bring good luck and fortune to local residents in Khon Kaen
Perhaps Saman's exit brings good luck?

#11  And more to the point...

A limerick indeed, but commanding:
Extravagant, purple, expanding!
In the violet of e'en
It could never be seen,
The Purkinje effect notwithstanding.

Good way to get sent straight to Hell,
Cuz that's not who we are!
Shall we check the bazaar
To see what sort of slaves are for sale?"

#9  Wow! Not that I'm much of a judge, having only rarely encountered real poets' stuff, more or less by accident, since hearing Lear on mother's knee (and very prettily he sang, too!)... but that's gotta be in the running for Purplest Limerick Ever. Wow. And how! How I yearn to see it chiselled in marble, with golden "inlay," like, atop the tomb of Poetry! Ummm... you're making fun of me, aren't you?

"Forgive humble self, please. Was plastered.
By studying Ren...
Or his simpering friend...
One of those... passions easily mastered."

Whenever a-hunting you go.
You sure to come back
With exactly right rack
And good head, nicely mounted. Ho, ho."

On road now unsure if he shoulda,
Think, 'Next time around,
Maybe not go by ground
But try ferry or fly on Garuda.'"
