[Fox News] The gunman who opened fire Friday morning at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, fatally shooting three people, has been identified as an aviation student from Saudi Arabia as investigators are looking into whether the attack is terrorism-related.

The gunman was confronted and taken out by a pair of responding officers. Two people were killed at the scene while a third victim died after being rushed to a local hospital. Seven others suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment, including the two officers, one of whom was shot in the arm and the other in the knee. Both are expected to survive.
Update from the Daily Mail at 2:00 p.m. ET : the dead Saudi gentleman is named Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.

#17  9/11 wasn't even close to being a wake-up call for the powers that be. I was still a "moderate" and a "Democrat" when it occurred, but I was flabbergasted that ALL of the media talking heads were cautioning me and others to "not jump to conclusions". 9/11 was my wake-up call, I found an article at The Belmont Club site regarding 3 conclusions regarding the west and Islam and nothing about the world to me would ever be the same.

But one has to only look at the not-give-a-damn TSA phoniness to be sure that "our betters" didn't learn ANYTHING.

#16  I am thankful the SOB didn't fly a jet on a suicide mission to D.C., NYC, or into a Gulf Coast school or hospital.

Evidently 9/11 wasn't a loud enough wake-up call.

#15  You try to give Islam the benefit of doubt on these things but then the perp's name turns out to be Mohammad again. It boggles the mind.

#13  ^ re Patrick AFB:

The 45th Space Wing first reported the threat, which they say prompted evacuations in the “immediate area” for safety reasons at 3:31 pm.
An “all-clear” was given at 4:30 p.m.

#9  On Wednesday a sailor shot up the Pearl Harbor naval base before committing suicide — he’s still not been publicly identified nor his purpose explained.

Today this. Is it coincidence, or is something more going on?

#8  Saudi air force 2nd lieutenant, according to the Daily Mail article linked above, which has a bad photo of the miscreant. He ran amok shortly before 7 a.m, in a classroom building, killing three and wounding eight. The article adds:

A person familiar with the program said that Saudi Air Force officers selected for military training in the United States are intensely vetted by both countries.

The Saudi personnel are 'hand-picked' by their military and often come from elite families, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they did not have permission to speak to a reporter. Trainees must speak excellent English, the person said.

The Saudi king call President Trump to offer condolences. If the young man was indeed carefully vetted, apologies may also be in order, and a serious investigation of all involved on the Saudi side.

#7  If there was any kind of "sponsorship" on the part of a politician or military person, we need to know who they are.
