Dem leaders signal they won't accept Trump acquittal as legitimate
2020-02-02
h/t Instapundit
[Fox News] - Democrats signaled in the runup to the looming conclusion of President Trump's impeachment proceedings that they'll simply refuse to accept his all-but-certain acquittal because his "sham" trial lacked proper witnesses and evidence.

Signaling how they will message the saga in the coming months on the campaign trail, top Democratic leaders in the House and Senate argued Slick Willie Trump can never erase the stain of impeachment because the trial wasn’t legitimate.

#31  ^ The MSM will focus on Romney's face and whether "Trump can ever earn back Romney's respect and support?"

#30  But the standing ovation from the Republicans at the State of the Union Speech hopefully will last 5 minutes when Trump walks in and Pelosi fumes.

#29  Given your impeachment and anyone identified as a Democrat is resigned from humanity, I say this with all sincerity. FOAD!

#27  He should declare his intent to ensure our elections are fair and free from any attempt at interference: call for an amendment barring parties from making rules changes once campaigns have begun, limiting early and absentee voting, and requiring paper ballots.

The first will fire up the Bernie bots against the Dems. The other two will limit fraud, "harvesting" and idiocy like voting via cellphone.

#26  Trump is acquitted because the Democrat case was never anything but a load of crap.

#23  Remember the all white dresses Pelosi orchestrated, my guess is something like all wearing black as if to a funeral?
CNN and MSLSD will be primed to talk about it incessantly.

#22  Once the vote happen, who cares what they think. When we take the house back she will be relegated to some crybaby outside the yard.

Posted by: Frank G   2020-02-02 11:27

#18  That really is the gist of all this. They are unwilling to accept the outcome of an election, and are going through every conceivable exercise to prevent Trump from governing. It is not and never was about impeachment.

#17  What sort of circus will Pelosi organize at the State of the Union? Wearing Guy Fawkes masks and linking arms in the aisles?
Posted by: magpie   2020-02-02 11:08

#16  Divide et impera

Find a way to promote / elevate / throw a bone to the internal rivals of Pelousey and Schumer.

I'd love to see him f--- with those mendacious morons by throwing a bone to Bernie.

Maybe point to him when he references the new trade deal w Mexico?

#15  Trump can kill that, and maybe seal the deal for November, by using the SOTU in a statesman-like and concilatory fashion

Anyone can do this, we expect better from Troll-meister. Betcha he'll find a way to be statesmanlike for the Nation and treat the demonrats as the scum they are.

#14  I think part of the impeachment strategy (no, strategy implies rational thought -- let's go with the impeachment feelz) was to provoke Trump into a misplaced reaction. Trump can kill that, and maybe seal the deal for November, by using the SOTU in a statesman-like and concilatory fashion: "I invite all members of Congress to work with me in making America even greater than it is now." (Whether he has to mean it or not is a different question -- this is optics.) Publicly threatening Dire Revenge is the wrong move.

#12  They were never going to anyway. Expect another impeachment this year as well.

Only way to end this is to vote the bastards out
(or use them as decoration for the lamp posts along Pennsylvania Ave.)

#11  P2k, they didn't slide into an authoritarian party they jumped in with both feet and eyes wide open.

Bernies communism is there real ideal...as long as they are on top not Bernie and the Bros.

#10  What silly shenanigans will Pelosi, Schiff.... perform during the state of the union? no Shows? Silly claps? Frequent outbursts

Expect silly costumes a la that HBO (?) fantasy-horror idiotshow about womyn forced to wear scarlet robes and wear Jane Austen bonnets.

Remember: Schifferbrains said he wants to be a screeenwriter-- uncharacteristically for him, that was no lie.

So expect him to do the usual lefty-Hollywood thing when faced with another political arse-kicking: script their own fantasy reality.

Expect costumes, lights, camera, SHITSHOW!

Posted by: Lex   2020-02-02 09:20

#8  To be honest the more they look like toddlers rolling around on the floor crying tantrums, the more Trump can get done.

#6  What they don't view as legitimate is our two party system of government. Vile to them is the Constitution that stands between them and all power, which, of course, is the intent of the document in the first place. They have slide into an full blown authoritarian party.

#4  'Dem leaders signal they won't accept another embarrassing defeat as legitimate'

An evergreen headline, and the party of crying children.

#3  The best thing is to win the House, keep the Senate and win the Presidency. Neuter Schumer and spay Pelosi.
Posted by: JohnQC   2020-02-02 07:18

#2  Since the impeachment process won't change a single person's opinion on Trump, they just acting out their frustrations.
They should be frustrated - they are second rate people who succeeded, for a time, to convince the rest of society that they're superior. But, now, it's all going away.
Posted by: g(r)omgoru   2020-02-02 06:58

#1  ...They're relying on the fact that most Americans don't have any real understanding of How Things Work. The House may well be able to define an impeachable offense as anything they want (and I subscribe to that, by the way) but the Senate then gets to define the trial in any way that they want, and there's not a damn thing the House can do about it.

An impeachment is an accusation and a charge. No more, no less. A prosecutor can, as the saying goes, indict a ham sandwich, but he can't make the jurors convict - and if they don't, then it makes no difference what you charged him with.
