Things to watch: Is the "kill-off" in Iran an environmental outlier -or- was China looking for something that preferentially effected Central Asian people (like the Muslim people in the 'Stans) more than it effected the *cough* "noble Sons of the Han"? |

| #4 #2 I don't know how it escaped the lab. I do remember reading somewhere that the very first victims had nothing to do with the wet market. I do know that Chinese Scientists are insanely competitive, which leads them to cut corners on "non-essential" staff like lab safety. p.s. | #1 Well, I thought that Chinese having a complete genome in a week was awfully quick. And the spike protein's efficiency could come from "natural" selection - although we've seen no supporting evidence (as it was evolving, it'd caused widespread disease). Or it could be refined in a lab by exploiting molecular cloning techniques. |
