Saudi to raise oil exports to record levels as price war rages |
2020-03-31 |
[AlAhram] Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... said on Monday it will raise its oil exports to a record 10.6 million barrels per day starting from May despite a global supply glut, escalating a price war with Russia. Oil prices are languishing at 17-year lows as the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ![]() pandemic threatens a painful global recession that could further sap demand. Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter which already announced a sharp production increase for April, said it would add additional supplies to the global market, deepening a glut. "The kingdom plans to raise its petroleum exports by 600,000 bpd from May, so total exports will increase to 10.6 million bpd," said an official at the energy ministry, cited by the state-run Saudi Press Agency. |

#9 Saudis crush American Frackers? No! How about RUSSIA attempts to destroy US Fracking industry? That's who triggered this mess, and that was their intent, and that was Putin's retaliation for the US stopping their pipeline to make western Europe their energy vassal. Putin is throwing a tantrum and trying to damage the US Economy. The Saudis are simply responding and trying to drown Russia in return by dumping oil at a rate that will eventually bankrupt themselves, but will tank the Russian economy first. It a race to the bottom except for nations with large refinery bases. And that's mostly the US and Europe from what I hear. Cheap oil will make the COVID-19 recovery go like a rocket if the enviros don't squelch it. |

#8 Um... they do realize that will only push prices lower as there is a huge glut right now? On the plus side I filled up my car for $13. High school prices! |

#7 At ZH the narrative is "Sauds crush American frackers." Everywhere else the narrative is "Sauds try to figure out how to breathe underwater." |

#4 WTI is $20.72 right now. When WTI was $12.50 gas was sometimes 27 cents/gal with towels or cups... So by that pre-1974 War model it would be about 42 cents/gal now. Of course that ignores wage inflation and EPA/Safety costs.. |

#3 When I was a kid and gas was 39 cents a gallon, Gulf used to give you a card with every fill up. When you had all the cards you traded them for a 100 piece tool set. My dad collected one of those Fleet tool sets and I still have some of them today. |
