Mitt Romney Only Republican Not Included on President Trump's Congressional Coronavirus Group
2020-04-17
So All ACTUAL Republicans are on?
[Gateway] Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is the only one of 53 Republican senators who was not invited to be on President Trump's Congressional coronavirus group on reopening the U.S. economy. Romney was the only Republican senator who voted to convict and remove Trump from office in his impeachment trial earlier this year. Nearly two dozen House and Senate Democrats were named to the group, all of whom voted to impeach or convict Trump.
So NO Republicans were left off? THIS is how you play hardball
The cut direct. Doubly so because as a former double barreled (Harvard MBA/Harvard JD) Bain consultant, he would have brought a big toolkit to the discussion, if only he had his head on straight. And he already grovelled to Trump once before turning on him again, so no one will believe claims of contrition or a call to duty now.
Go ahead Mittens, order some BBQ Horseshoe Bat carry-out and a liter of Pepsi and teach the Orange Man a lesson.

#9  /\ Well, Raj, the whole point was covered by Larry the Liquidator (Danny DeVito) in Other People's Money(1991). So, yeah, they are necessary if unpopular folks.

#8  This man knows nothing about manufacturing or agriculture or tech or energy or biomedical industries. He's a money-fiddler who manipulates the tax code and leverage to juice up jus returns.

Largely correct, but there's one angle missing from that - the ability to find undervalued companies relative to their true worth. If you're looking at a company and perform your own financial analysis and determine a company's worth $50 a share but the stock's at $30, that's useful information.

#7  Flake was another well-justified political exile.

#6  Both McStain and Womney are pieces of shit and should never be allowed near the inner circles of the Republican party.

#4  This is what should have been done to McCain: If you want to be a loose cannon then go over in a corner and play with by yourself -- nobody can trust you so buzz off!"

#3  Sorry but his skill is mainly in financial engineering - specifically, how to fame the tax code and pay himself and hhs partners dividends after saddling a struggling company with debt. IIRC He invested in s.t. 67 companies and 63 of them went belly up. His big hit was a brick and mortar retailer.

This man knows nothing about manufacturing or agriculture or tech or energy or biomedical industries. He's a money-fiddler who manipulates the tax code and leverage to juice up jus returns.

He is a relic of the over-financialized economy of the 1980s and 1990s, and he has nothing whatsoever to add to the debate about how we move forward in a post-financialized economy.

Different world now. We need people who actually know how to operate businesses. Not Bainies or arbs or traders or 2-and-20 carried-interest scammers.
