CHP temporarily bans rallies at California Capitol, other state facilities due to coronavirus

Some people are actually doing free expression - 1st Amendment Shit. Newsom objects. Racing MI to the bottom?
[10 News] The California Highway Patrol is temporarily banning rallies at the state Capitol and other state facilities because of the pandemic.

The change in policy Wednesday came after hundreds of protesters gathered on the Capitol grounds in Sacramento on Monday, many without wearing masks or following recommendations to remain more than six feet apart to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The same group had planned additional rallies in coming days against Gov. Gavin Newsom's orders that people remain at home except for essential activities.

Additional similar rallies have been happening across California and the nation.

Protest organizers did not immediately respond to The Associated Press’ request for comment.

#4  ^ This is wrong.

The CHP's number is 800-835-5247.

They confirmed that the order came from Newsom, it is in effect, and applies to any gathering of 10 or more people at the state Capitol "for the duration of COVID," whatever that means.

Calling Gov.'s office now for clarification.

No official announcement on the state's COVID website as to the logic of any behind "10 feet", or the definitions, criteria and metrics used to determine the duration of the crisis

His wife Dorothy Thompson, the best journalist of the era, is akso worth reading on the Nazi takeover - she saw it firsthand as a leading foreign correspondent in Berlin, and testified before Congress as to how our own democracy was at risk.

#1  The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the United States Congress from enacting legislation that would abridge the right of the people to assemble peaceably.[1] The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution makes this prohibition applicable to state governments.[2]
