Al-Hawl camp reducing citric acid entry into the camp as a result of finding large quantities of inflammable bottles inside ISIS wives' tents

Mr. Wife, who knows a thing or two about chemicals, cannot imagine a non-molotov cocktail reason why prison campers might want citric acid.
In industry it’s used to make soft drinks, laundry detergent, and pickling steel, whatever that is, none of which is useful to the residents of a prison camp.

#10  Lots of uses for citric acid. Probably many forgotten in Western culture.

#9  Listings online show for big bulk sellers of citric acid in KSA and Dubai. So they use a lot of it for something in muzzland.

#8  Citric acid is listed by the FDA as "Generally Recognized As Safe" (GRAS) as of 10 June 2020.

TITLE 21--FOOD AND DRUGS
CHAPTER I--FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
SUBCHAPTER B--FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION (CONTINUED)
PART 184 -- DIRECT FOOD SUBSTANCES AFFIRMED AS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS SAFE
Subpart B--Listing of Specific Substances Affirmed as GRAS
Sec. 184.1033 Citric acid.
Maybe used as a topical disinfectant? Maybe a norovirus antagonist? Not going to be very effective at melting faces off, but will likely irritate the heck out of the eyes.

#7  Can citric acid be made strong enough to throw at women who don't properly cover their faces in public? Just a thought.

#6  Citric acid mixed with isopropyl alcohol makes a spray that works on mites and the like. Perhaps its nothing more than a bug killer. But no. Bugs in a refugee camp? Unthinkable.

#5  OK, I had to go learn more. I still don't see a refugee camp being involved in any innocent steel manufacturing operations.

#4  Scurvy epidemic on the way? (Yes, I know it's actually the vitamin C - ascorbic acid - in citrus that prevents scurvy)

#3  I just now realized, about "pickling steel", perhaps they were planning to use the citric acid to pickle thie hindies?

#2  Perhaps they're having a serious case of scurvy and need more vitamin C? With the usual Islam medical treatment of rubbing the citric acid on their hind end...

#1  and pickling steel, whatever that is,

It's like pickling cucumbers... if your cukes were coated with a thin layer of oxidized metal.

Seriously, I have no idea what is going on here. The article seems to have been journalismed into incomprehensibility. I don't see how citric acid would be of use in a molotov, except perhaps dumping it out on the ground and filling the container with gasoline.
