#13  We have a reverse circle of virtue now. Companies didn't do telecommuting because commercial property was relatively cheap and certain addresses were snazzy. Software companies didn't invest much in teleconferencing software because here wasn't much money there. Now, teleconferencing is super hot and office space is icky. This particular rubber band probably won't snap back.

#12  Yes, it's all the pandemic's fault.

And yes, I realize with restaurants, bars and entertainment venues shutting down, there's literally no reason to stay in that shithole.

Wait 'til Wall Street firms decide to shut down operations there.

#10  I have a friend on 10th Avenue; she says that's the only area of Manhattan that didn't get trashed. I think she's staying put, at least for now.

#8  Here in rural East Tennessee we have seen multiple citizens of New York have traveled here to purchase homes with land. I just hope they don't vote like they did in New York.

#4  Expect squatters in 5 .. 4 .. 3.
Any bets on how how the liberal beliefs of the usual populace of these districts will be influenced by such an exposure to the downtrodden?

#3  They'll have to lower prices and let the 'riffraff' in. Of course, government won't lower property taxes to match the downturn. Neither will they allow the top tier to be the number used if they reinstitute rent control to 'attract' renters back.

#1  A pity for the landlords, but New York City’s government has worked hard to get swiftly emptying coffers.
